Brad Stabio and Jeff Kosloski decided a couple years ago that they wanted to make moving pictures with their friends. Shorts, features, whatever. So they approached some buddies with the idea of getting together once a month or so and just shooting something. Anything. The buddies -- Mike Ackerman, Kirk Anderson, Jordan Leigh, Dave Shirley, Brian Steele and Steve Zammar -- said yep, let's do it. But they needed a name. Okay, they didn't really need a name, but they wanted one. Brad came up with Cinema Geeks. It was perfect, because while on the surface these guys are smooth, sophisticated and dangerously handsome, inside they're all a bunch of film dorks. They got together and shot one thing, then did nothing for about six months. In November of 2003, though, they decided to turn a stage sketch Kirk had written into a screenplay and shoot it as a short. After much working and reworking by Kirk and Jeff, HEMPMENTO became a screenplay. They rounded up some friends, shot the whole thing in four days, and what do you know, they have a damn funny short film on their hands. Then, in February 2004, they were charged with doing the entire awards show for the Denver Advertising Federation's 2004 ADDY Award Show. So Jeff and Brad rounded up some more friends and shot the mock documentary Hot Coffee: A Week With Fuquem & Howe about a fictitious ad agency in Denver. It was a huge hit with the folks in the ad community. In the meantime, Jeff and Brad decided that Cinema Geeks had much more potential than just being a club of buddies. So they made it official and formed Cinema Geeks Productions.
